James Dolnik, Director of Bands
James Dolnik is the Director of Bands at Mayde Creek High School and in his 27th year of being a high school band director in Texas. He is the conductor of the Wind Symphony and overall coordinator and conductor for the Mighty Ram Marching Band. Mr. Dolnik also serves as the Fine Arts Department Chair at Mayde Creek High School and the Texas Music Educators Association Region 23 Band division chairman as well as the Area H Band Chairman.
Mr. Dolnik, a native of Texas, graduated from Sam Houston State University where his teachers included Dr. Gary Sousa, Dr. Fisher Tull, Dr. Newton Strandberg and Dr. Rod Cannon. His private instructors included Mr. Lamar Burkhalter and Mr. Gregg Rinehart.
While in college, he competed in The Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps from Hutchinson Kansas, The Cavilers from Rosemont Illinois, and the Concord Blue Devils from Concord California. He also taught the front ensemble with the Sky Ryders in 1992.
Previous to his appointment at Mayde Creek, Mr. Dolnik was Director of Bands at Memorial High School in Spring Branch ISD, and Associate Band Director at Calallen High School and Middle School in Corpus Christi.
Professional affiliations for Mr. Dolnik include the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association.
Mr. Dolnik is supported his wife, Barbie, and their two children, Brittany a recent graduate of the University of Houston and Jamie who is enlisted in the Navy as a meteorologist. The entire family likes to swim, enjoy their pets and visit the Walt Disney World Resort on a regular basis.
Associate Director: Mrs. Molly Casillas
Molly Casillas is originally from Paris, Texas where she attended Paris High School. After graduation she studied music education at Texas Christian University with professors Bobby Francis, Eric Simpson, Brian Youngblood, and Sheri Neill. During her time there she performed with a myriad of ensembles including the Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Community Concert Band, and was a member of the TCU Drumline.
Previously, Mrs. Casillas worked in Alvin ISD at Manvel High School for three years, serving as Assistant Band Director. During her time there she was responsible for the Marching Band, Concert Band, and Color Guard Program.
Mrs. Casillas is married to her husband, Cinjin Casillas, who is also a band director in Cypress Fairbanks ISD. They live with their two dogs, Lady and Clover, and cat, Happy.
Ms. Maria Morales, Assistant Director
Maria Morales is a music educator that specializes in percussion. Maria is an alumna of Texas State University where she received her degree in Music Education. While at Texas State, Maria worked and performed with multiple groups including: The Texas State Marching Band, Symphonic Winds, Orquesta del Rio, and various percussion ensemble. Maria has also performed with Texas State Indoor Percussion and Teatro Indoor Percussion from Austin, TX.
Since 2014, Maria has worked as a Percussion counselor and Latin instructor for the Texas State University Percussion Camp for the past 3 years.
When Maria isn’t teaching or performing, she is playing with her cat, Chloe.”
